Watchpile ("we," "us," "our") is operated by Lorenzo Cheatham. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Account information: email address, username, display name, and optional avatar/bio when you create an account.
Viewing and rating data: the movies and TV shows you track, rate, and review, and your watchlist activity.
Payment information: if you subscribe to Watchpile Pro, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details — Stripe handles this directly, and we only retain your subscription status and a Stripe customer reference.
Contacts (optional, one-time): if you use the "Find friends from contacts" feature, your browser asks your permission and you choose which contacts to share. We check those contacts' email addresses against existing Watchpile accounts to show you potential friends. We do not store your contacts — the check happens once and the data is discarded immediately after.
Device and usage information: we use cookie-free analytics (Vercel Analytics) to understand app performance, and localStorage on your device to remember preferences like theme (light/dark) and dismissed notifications. We use error tracking (Sentry) to detect and fix bugs, which may automatically capture technical details about a request when something breaks.
We use the following third-party services to operate Watchpile. Each only receives the information necessary to perform its function:
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Email preferences: you can turn off digest emails at any time in Settings.
Account deletion: to delete your account and associated data, email us at hello@mywatchpile.com with your request. You can also delete your account directly from Settings. We will delete your data within 30 days, except where we're required to retain limited records (e.g., for tax or fraud-prevention purposes).
Access and correction: you can view and edit most of your information directly in the app under Settings and your profile.
If you are located in the EU/UK or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA, including the right to request a copy of your data. Contact us to exercise these rights.
Watchpile is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
We may update this policy as Watchpile evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
